Why I'm writing this blog
If you're reading this blog you are more than likely related to or friends with Jennifer. Or perhaps you are someone with breast cancer or know someone with breast cancer. Either way welcome--I started this as an almost purely information-dissemination device, but I may end up actually processing more emotional and philosophical reflections as my treatment continues. One thing you should know: I will be fairly blunt about what I'm going through and will not be invoking the standard narrative tropes of other breast cancer supposedly-inspirational rhetoric (the whole "journey" metaphor for example will NOT be used here). Anyway, that's what this blog is about--giving people information on what I'm going through. Read or don't read--it's entirely up to you.

ReplyDeleteJen, the first thing I thought was that you look like the priestesses and abbesses at the Zen temple I used to sit at in San Francisco. Who are the most calm, powerful, scary-powerful, human forces I've ever known. So I'm sure you don't *feel* deeply calm and strong but you sure look it.

ReplyDeleteAfter our chat today I checked here to see if you'd posted photos--not what you want to hear, but it turns out that you look pretty good with a shaved head! Yay for that at least. Aside from a larger sunscreen bill, you'll get through this--and I've no doubt you get comments in public on it.
